The Faculty of Modern & Medieval Languages and Linguistics is pleased to share details of an upcoming literary event hosted by independent publisher Linden Editions and Heffers Bookshop.
On听Thursday 11 September, Croatian author听Magdalena Bla啪evi膰听will join听Burhan S枚nmez, President of International PEN and acclaimed novelist, for an evening discussion to mark the English publication of her debut novel听In Late Summer.
Set during the Bosnian War,听In Late Summer听is told from the perspective of a 14-year-old girl killed in the August 1993 massacre. Combining poetic imagery of everyday village life with the stark brutality of conflict, Bla啪evi膰鈥檚 novel offers a moving and powerful reflection on memory, loss, and survival.
