The Faculty of Modern & Medieval Languages and Linguistics is pleased to share details of an upcoming literary event hosted by independent publisher Linden Editions and Heffers Bookshop.
OnÌýThursday 11 September, Croatian authorÌýMagdalena BlaževićÌýwill joinÌýBurhan Sönmez, President of International PEN and acclaimed novelist, for an evening discussion to mark the English publication of her debut novelÌýIn Late Summer.
Set during the Bosnian War,ÌýIn Late SummerÌýis told from the perspective of a 14-year-old girl killed in the August 1993 massacre. Combining poetic imagery of everyday village life with the stark brutality of conflict, Blažević’s novel offers a moving and powerful reflection on memory, loss, and survival.
