Risk AssessmentÌý

All students must submit a Risk Assessment (RA) for each approved Year Abroad study or work placement. The completion of a RA is a formal requirement; failure to submit a sufficiently detailed RA by the designated deadline may result in the placement not counting towards your Year Abroad and invalidate your University Insurance and any relevant funding eligibility.

The University uses a platform called Peregrine Foresight for pre-travel RAs. Further instructions are published .Ìý

Insurance

University Travel Insurance

MMLLÌýand AMES studentsÌýtravelingÌýabroad now MUST take out free University Travel Insurance. Please refer to theÌýfor further information and guidance. Students should submit risk assessment first before applying for University Travel Insurance.

A few points to highlight:

  1. The University Insurance team is responsible for the working of this scheme. AnyÌýinquiriesÌýshould therefore be addressed to them atÌýinsurance@admin.cam.ac.uk
  2. A reminder that the Insurers adopt theÌýForeign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO)'sÌýown definition ofÌý‘essential travel’ as any travel that individuals deem essential for professional or personal reasons. Therefore an ‘amber’ warning to the effect that theÌýFCDOÌýis advising against allÌý’non-essential’ travel to a destination shouldÌýnotÌýnecessarily prevent you fromÌýtravelling. You will still be covered by insurance even where an amber warning is in place.Ìý
  3. In common with the vast majority of affordable policies, the University scheme does not coverÌýCovid-relatedÌýdisruption (e.g. repatriation of belongings, etc.). It does cover in-country medical costs forÌýCovidÌýtreatment.

All students in Europe should carry a.ÌýA GHICÌýgives you the right to access state-provided healthcare during a temporary stay in the European Union. You must provide placement details of your YA placements and the YA Office can supply the proof required on request only when your placement has been approved.
