"AROSYN - Aromanian Syntax: Reflexive Clitics in Aromanian"

Ìý

Aromanian Syntax (AROSYN) is a European Commission funded project [Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions] that aims to document and study the properties of the reflexive clitic SE across a number of related structures in Aromanian, an oral, endangered and understudied Eastern Romance variety spoken throughout the Balkans. The project involves extensive fieldwork in loco in Epirus, North-Western Greece (4 locations). Project goals include: (a) the study of the morpho-syntactic properties of SE-structures across closely related varieties (micro-variation), but also among (standard) Romance languages (including Daco-Romance); (b) the study of the role of language contact in the formation of hybrid grammars (in this case, Aromanian and Greek); (c) the study of the nature and structure of variation in non-standard oral linguistic varieties; (d) the study of the properties of SE across structures and languages. Ultimately, achievement of these goals will elucidate the nature of argument structure alternations and of Grammar more generally.
