Prizes and Travel Grants for Polish Studies

Ƶ Polish Studies works with varioussponsors to reward students of Polish literature, language,culture and history for academic and creativeexcellence. We also aim to provide opportunities for students to spend time in Poland.

Ƶ Polish Studies offers severalprizes to students.

Travel Grants

All students of Polish literature, language and culture at Ƶ are eligible to apply for small discretionary grants towards the costs of travel to Poland for research or study purposes. Please write to Dr Stanley Bill with inquiries: sb2054@cam.ac.uk

The University of WarsawPrize for Literary Translation

An annualcompetition for best translation of a poem from Polishinto English open to all students of SL13: Introduction to theLanguage, Literature and Culture of Poland.In 2014-15, theentries were judged by eminent Polish poet, Adam Zagajewski, andacclaimed translator of Polish literature, Antonia Lloyd-Jones.

The winner was announcedat the Ƶ Polish Studies event, AdamZagajewski: An Evening of Poetry, on 28 April 2015 at Trinity College's Winstanley Lecture Theatre. The first three editionsof the prize weresponsored by .

In 2015-16, the prize was presented by Olga Tokarczuk. In 2016-17, the prize was presented by Dorota Masłowska.

The main prizeis a summer school course in Polish language and culture at the ,including flights, accommodation and board.The prize is sponsored by the University of Warsaw under the between Ƶ and Warsaw.

The competition will be open once againto all students of SL13: Introduction to theLanguage, Literature and Culture of Poland in 2018-19.
