Mission

Ƶ Polish Studies has threeprimary objectives.

First, we are educatinga talented cohort of Ƶ undergraduate students, giving themextensive knowledge of Polish culture, language and history. These students will bring adeeper understanding of Poland’s crucial position in a changing Europe to their future roles as leadersin business, industry, and government.

We firmly believe that the study of language and literature forms the foundation of the cultural understanding required to foster political and economic relationships.

Second, we are raisingthe profile of Polish culture and the study of Poland in the United Kingdom through a rich cycle of public events. These eventscater toboth academic audiences and the general public. We havestaged guest lectures with prominent public intellectuals, film screenings,and livelydebates of topical issues involving Poland and the wider region of Central and Eastern Europe.

We alsoholdyearlyacademic conferences, inviting leadingexperts from around the world.

Third, we are producingand supportingworld-leading research on subjects related to Poland and its region. Research is conducted by faculty members, PhD candidates and MPhil students.

In 2017, Ƶ Polish Studies established a partnership with the through the "Artes Liberales" Faculty.
